SICKKIDS LOTTERY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. If I win the Early Bonus or Early Bird Prize, do I still qualify for the other prize draws?
Yes. Every winning ticket goes back into the draw so you can win more than once.

2. If I win a car or Dream Pack, can I accept the cash value instead?

The cash alternative amount for the Early Bonus, Early Bird and Dream Pack draws can be taken. Cash-out values are as follows: Early Bonus: 2010 Chrysler Sebring LX Convertible, or take the cash value (cash value is $30,000). Early Bird: 2010 Volvo XC60T6 plus a $2,500 gas card or a “See Paris in Style” package (consisting of $15,000 in travel and accommodation gift cards with Transat Holidays plus $35,000 cash for shopping and entertainment), or the option to take the cash (cash value is $50,000). The three Dream Pack prizes each offer a cash option. See rules and regulations for more details.

3. How long does it take to receive my ticket?

Upon receipt and/or authorization of payment, you should receive your ticket within approximately 2-4 weeks. If you have not received your ticket(s) by then, please contact Customer Service 1-888-501-KIDS (5437), or in the Greater Toronto Area (416) 514-2121 for a replacement ticket(s).

4. Can SickKids Lottery tickets be ordered over the Internet?

Yes! Tickets can be ordered online.
SickKids Lottery is pleased to announce that the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario has revised their regulations, which govern charitable lotteries, to allow for online ticket orders. Online ticket orders are processed through MiraTel Solutions Inc, with the exceptional security features and are managed similar to orders made in person (at The Hospital for Sick Children), via mail, phone, fax, and online. All orders placed must be in the province of Ontario and be to persons 18 years of age or older. Winners' names will also be searchable on the website on July 19, 2010. In the event all tickets are sold by May 28, 2010 the listing will be available July 5, 2010.

5. Can I order a ticket if I do not live in Ontario?

The lottery is intended for Ontario residents. Tickets can not be mailed to addresses outside of Ontario; purchasers must be IN the province of Ontario to purchase tickets.

6. How old do you have to be to purchase a ticket?

You must be at least 18 years old at the time of ordering. Tickets cannot be purchased in the name of a minor.

7. What are the odds of winning?

Odds are calculated by dividing the number of tickets available by the number of prizes to be awarded. All Ontario charity lotteries state their odds of winning based on this equation. The odds of winning are approximately 1 in 7*. Industry practice in calculating the odds are to take the number of tickets sold, divided by the number of prizes. Every ticket is eligible for each draw. “Best Odds to Win $1 Million Cash”, “Best Ticket Pricing*” and “1 in 7 odds*” statements are the opinion of the licensee based on information available to the licensee on health care lotteries in the Greater Toronto Area at the time of printing.

8. How much does a ticket cost?

Tickets are $100 for a single ticket, $200 for a 3-pack, and $300 for a 5-pack. We are very excited to continue to offer our best value package of $500 for a 10-pack – that’s $50 a ticket!

9. How can someone purchase a ticket(s)?

There are five ways to buy a ticket:
  1. Order online today!
  2. Call the toll-free telephone number 1-888-356-KIDS (5437) or (416) 514-2100 and use a credit card.
  3. Complete the ticket order form included in the brochure and mail it in the self-addressed, postage paid return mailer along with a cheque, money order or a credit card number (Visa, MasterCard or American Express).
  4. Fax the completed ticket order form with credit card number (Visa, MasterCard or American Express) to (416) 650-7851.
  5. Visit the Lottery desk located in the Slaight Family Atrium of the hospital (excluding weekends and holidays) or other various external locations.

10. Will a charitable tax receipt be issued with the ticket?
No. According to Canada Revenue Agency regulations, charity lottery ticket purchases are considered entertainment, not a direct donation. Therefore we are unable to issue a tax receipt for ticket purchases.

11. How many tickets will be sold and printed?

66,500 will be sold and 3,325 will be awarded as Early Bird prizes, for a total of 69,825.

12. How will the winners be notified?

Major winners of the VIP Draw**, Early Bonus Draw, Early Bird Draw and the Grand Prize Winner of $1 Million in cash will be notified by phone and mail, as well as Dream Pack winners. All other prize winners will be sent an official notification letter. Their names will also be published on the SickKids Lottery website on July 19, 2010. On the same day an advertisement will appear in the Toronto Sun, highlighting the major prize winners and reminding ticket holders where they can go to learn whether or not they have won a prize. Should all tickets be sold by May 28, 2010, the winners’ advertisement and online listing will be published on July 5, 2010.

13. Will my name be publicized if I am a winner?

Yes, in accordance with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, the winners must be collected in a list for reporting purposes (including ticket number, name and city). Major winners will be posted in the Toronto Sun and a full winners list is searchable online here on Monday, July 19, 2010. SickKids Lottery reserves the right to publish the name, address and photograph of any winner. Winner information may be released to the news media and may be used in advertising for the Hospital for Sick Children, SickKids Lottery or SickKids Foundation.

14. What if I lose my ticket?

You do not need your ticket to claim your prize. Your name, address and phone number are recorded in the database along with your ticket number, which is proof enough. If you would like a replacement ticket, please call the customer service number at 1-888-501-KIDS (5437) or 416-514-2121 in the Greater Toronto Area.

15. How can I get a complete winners' list?

  • By calling 1-888-501-KIDS (5437), or in the Greater Toronto Area (416) 514-2121 to check a lottery number.
  • By requesting a complete list from SickKids Foundation.
16. How do I claim my prize?
You will receive a letter from SickKids Lottery providing you with the exact details on how to claim your prize. All prizes will be shipped free of charge to the prize winners address. If you have not received a letter please call Customer Service at 1-888-501-KIDS (5437), or in the Greater Toronto Area (416) 514-2121. Major prize winners will also be contacted by phone and arrangements on claiming their prize will be made.

17. How many prizes will be awarded?

The total number of prizes to be awarded is 9,380.

18. What is the total prize value?

The total value of all prizes is $2,567,436.11 inclusive of all applicable taxes and freight.

19. When are the deadlines for the ticket sales?

20. Who cannot purchase a ticket?
The following persons are prohibited from purchasing SickKids Lottery tickets or obtaining benefit from the prize offering: SickKids Foundation staff, Board of Directors, and Lottery Advisory Committee; The Hospital for Sick Children Executive Team and Board of Trustees; employees of registered gaming suppliers; and, members of the same household of each of the above.

21. What is your privacy policy?

SickKids Foundation respects the privacy of its lottery supporters; we do not sell, rent or trade our supporter lists. The information we collect is used to process lottery ticket purchases, keep our supporters informed about the activities of the hospital and Foundation, and ask for their support for our mission to improve children's health.
